NEVER EVER JAM TODAY

It's Carol Channing's 88th birthday y'all, so it's finally an appropriate moment to share one of the craziest, most confusing, at times scary, and hilarious video clips.

The great and talented Carol once played The Queen in a remake of Alice in Wonderland and brought us one of the most timeless pieces of musical theater history...

Bacon, anyone?

OK, I love bacon.  But this recipe seems like a little too much pork in one place...  It's not fully developed, but one of my food philosophies is that you should never stuff something with itself. AKA never stuff mushrooms with more mushrooms, pork tenderloin with more pork, etc.

New photos of David Beckham for Armani underwear...  No preview necessary.

Thanks, PITNB.

I hope this doesn't affect my Netflix...

The US Post Office has officially asked congress to change a 1983 law requiring mail to be delivered six days a week...  Basically, because of the chilly economic climate, the postal service may begin delivering mail only five days a week.  Interesting...

AI Divas honor Patti Labelle

Patti Labelle was recently honored by UNCF with an "Evening of Stars."

It. Was. Ridiculous.

Thanks to Joe for the heads-up.  I don't think my life would be complete without these clips...

First, here's Jennifer Hudson singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."

Next up, Fantasia's rendition of "Lady Marmalade."

Are you gagging?  Good, you should be.

What a stupid reason to be fired.

During Obama's inauguration parade last week, the drum major of the Cleveland firefighter's memorial band was put on probation for nodding and waving at the new President.  What???  I think it's ridiculous and a little sad; I mean, what an exciting time that was for everyone.  If I had been walking in that freezing cold parade, you'd better believe I would wave at Obama (and Michelle).

Paris does Gaga

Paris Hilton can do such a compelling interview!  She recently caught up with Lady Gaga to discuss fashion, music, and possibly collaborating.  I would love to hear that.

The best part is when Lady Gaga tells Paris that "Stars are Blind" is one of the best records ever. Hahahaha.

Sunday Night Soup

Sunday nights are usually just me and Libby hanging out with some wine, dinner, and Desperate Housewives, but last night we had a few guest stars, including Joe Perkins, the person who taught me how to use the words "fierce," "work," "throw up," "feature," etc.

Anyhow, I made this delicious soup.  Works well with a baguette and booze.

4 chicken breasts, roasted (I used olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and rosemary), diced
4 russett potatoes, cooked and diced (just boil them)
1 box frozen spinach
1 small carton half & half
1 carton chicken stock
1/4 large white onion, diced small
4 stalks green onion, diced
1/4 C. olive oil
1/2 stick butter
3 T. flour

OK.  Start by building a roux.  Heat 1/4 c. olive oil in a large stock pot and melt 1/2 stick butter. Add the onion and green onion and saute lightly.  Add flour a tablespoon at a time, whisking in and letting it thicken.

Once the roux just starts turning a light brown color, begin adding chicken stock.  Add approximately 1/4 of the carton.  Then add approximately 1/2 of the half & half.  Let the mixture thicken and make sure to break up any lumps.  Continue adding chicken stock and half & half allowing the mixture to thicken after each addition, reserving approximately 1/4 of the chicken stock.

Season the soup with salt, pepper, garlic, sage, rosemary, thyme, cayenne, hot sauce, etc.  Add the roasted chicken and cooked potatoes and let simmer for about an hour.  Add frozen spinach, stir well, and simmer for another half hour.  If the soup is too thick, add more chicken stock.

Top with a selection of the following:

Diced green onion
Fresh ground black pepper
Shredded mozzarella or monterey jack cheese
Hot sauce
Chives
Oyster Crackers

YUM!!!

Fired Up...

If you know me well, you know that I'm a sucker for cheerleading movies.  Bring It On has a special place in my DVD collection.  That said, this new movie called Fired Up that's coming out soon looks ridiculous.  The premise is this: the two high school football stars decide to become cheerleaders in order to score some girls.  You know what, I think there's actually a Bring It On sequel (probably number six) with the exact same plot.

I'll probably see it, let's be honest.

This clip is hilarious.  Whomever decided to put Lady Gaga and David Archuleta in the same lineup at a concert is a genius!  This backstage meet-up between the two is precious; David really doesn't know what to do!  God love him.  And how.

Awesome Inauguration Pic

A super talented photographer used an insane camera to take a panorama of Obama's inauguration...  Yeah, that's pretty cool and all, but what sets this pic apart is that you can zoom in and look at people close up!  It's kind of like Google Earth but cooler.

Check it out here!  Try to find Oprah, The Clintons, Aretha, and Aretha's hat.
Some comedy group thought (correctly) that it would be funny to send a group of shirtless guys (of all shapes and sizes) into a local Abercrombie & Fitch store...  Check it out!

There are some hotties...  I'm just saying.

The State of Indiana is Fierce

The recently crowned Miss America 2009 is from Indiana!  She's the first Hoosier beauty queen to have her dreams become a reality.  Congrats, Katie Stam.

Can you do this?

Lots of posts about eyebrows lately, huh?  This super cute commercial comes to us from our friends across the pond at Cadbury.

Holy Eyebrows, Batman!

Thanks to Michael at D Listed for some fierce pics of ladies and their eyebrows...  Eyebrows aren't necessarily my thing, but if I ever saw some like this, I'd have to reconsider.

Ha.

Bush's Best Moments

Leave it to Letterman to find some ways to laugh at Bush for laughter's sake. Great clips! I think my favorite is the hand mix-up or the locked doors... Hahaha.

Aretha 4 Obama (a hot mess)

Aretha Franklin wore an atrocious hat and sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee" at the inauguration ceremony today.  Sure, it was an emotional song choice and was totally symbolic and all that, but facts are facts, and she did not sound good.

A Change Is Upon Us

Today was a day that many thought would never come: Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America.

I was lucky to watch the swearing in and inaugural address in beautiful Athens, Ohio, at a bar called the Oak Room with some great friends, cheap drinks (though, surprisingly, I didn't partake), and yummy lunch.

Welcome, America, to a new chapter in your history.

Singing Hoosiers (!!!) 4 Obama

It's almost time for America to begin a new chapter under the leadership of Barack Obama...

The Singing Hoosiers, a group of which I am an alumni and to which I credit much of the successes (and best times) of my life, have been invited to perform at the Indiana Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.  Congrats, Hoos!  I couldn't be more proud.  Slash jealous.

Around 900 people are expected to attend the IN Ball; break a leg, friends!

Haha a funny "blog"

This is especially funny because yesterday at work we were talking about how our General Manager uses "air quotes;" you know, those little quotes you make with your fingers when you're suggesting something isn't quite the literal translation...  Anyhow, last night I came across The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks and find it necessary to "post" it here.

Why don't we have such fierce commercials?

What a great ad!  It's for a cell phone company in the UK...  What an awesome idea!

Beyonce 4 Barack

It was announced a few days ago that Beyonce would be performing at Obama's inaugural ball, singing a previously unknown song for he and Michelle's first dance.  Well, Beyonce let it slip to E! that she will be singing the Etta James classic "At Last."  Kinda cliche, especially for Beyonce, but I'm sure it will be fine.

For the complete list of performers and various inaugural events, click here.

CNN is projecting that around 2 million people will be there to watch Obama be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.  That's fierce.

Eric Dane: My favorite part of Grey's Anatomy

These pics from towleroad reminded me why McSteamy (Eric Dane from Grey's Anatomy) is my favorite doctor in the world.  Too bad I can't have TV doctors take care of me in real life...  Sigh.

American Idol is back!

Check out Fierce Reality for some thoughts and a funny clip.

Did you watch???

Gavin Creel... Sigh.

The first show I ever saw on Broadway was Thoroughly Modern Millie during my choir's trip to NYC my senior year of high school. It was fierce.

Gavin Creel was one of the stars of the show, and he became my first Broadway crush.  He's super cute, amazing to watch on stage, and has a truly beautiful voice.

Anyhow, he's heading to the revival of Hair, which hits Broadway this Spring (I believe).

Swoon.

Beyonce Goes Off!

Beyonce is insane.

Check out the clip below if you don't believe me.

Thanks to Jermaine (jrmiles, if I remember correctly) @ ItsJermainia.

They're tying the knot (I think).

People magazine reveals that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are finally confirming that they are engaged.  A sad day for single women and gay men the world over...

R.I.P., (Single) Tom Brady
It was a great run.
PS--Take your shirt off.

Ryan's Big Diss

This is probably one of the most talked-about moments from the Golden Globes last night, and it didn't even take place during the awards show itself.  Ryan Seacrest was working the Red Carpet for E! when he spotted Brad & Angelina.  He rushed over to say hello and they completely ignored him; therefore, he and I will be completely ignoring them by not inviting them to our wedding.  Rude.

In other Golden Globes news...  Looks like the ratings weren't that good.  More people tuned in to Desperate Housewives (myself included).

Golden Globe Winners

The Golden Globes were tonight (in case you live under a rock) and Slumdog Millionaire pretty much came home the big winner for films; 30 Rock took home a majority of the big TV awards.

For the complete list, click here.

Mostly I am not sure how Mickey Rourke could beat out people like Sean Penn and Brad Pitt. Otherwise, no big surprises.

Get out the vote.

D Listed's three finalists for "Hot Slut of 2008" award have just been announced.  Head on over to vote!

I'm pretty sure my heart has been sworn to La Pequena...

Breaking News: 140-Year Old Lobster Released!

I love it when CNN has such riveting stories on the front page of their website.

George, a 20 pound, 140-year old lobster was sitting in a restaurant display tank awaiting his fate as a delicious entree until PETA swooped in and convinced the restaurant owners to release him back into the Atlantic ocean.  Here's my question...  So this lobster has been living in captivity for a few centuries, is he really going to do well if they just dump him back in the ocean?  Seems like a lose-lose situation to me.

Mmm... Bacon.

So, I cook a lot, especially breakfast.  (Remember Ski Vacation 2009?  Breakfast spread every morning?  Yeah.)  Anyhow, for my part, I usually cook bacon in the oven because you can get a lot more done in less time.  However, if you're using the old-fashioned method of cooking bacon on the stove, you often end up with burnt, soggy, or not dul* breakfast meat.

Not anymore.  Scott Vermeire shows us how to properly cook bacon.  Don't overcrowd the pan, use low heat, and don't drain off the fat.  Who knew perfect bacon was this easy?

And who knew there was a video available online teaching us how to cook bacon?  The internet is amazing, no?

*Dul=delicious.  Duh.

Mugshots are funny. I hope I never have one.

I'm in dire need of a haircut.  Yes, there's a salon literally across the street from my apartment, but I don't really like going there.  Too many people (read: gays) judging me.  I'll probably just plug in my clippers and go to town--later this week.

Anyhow, I'm thinking about one of these as a possible new hairstyle for 2009...  What do you think?

Note to self: if you ever get arrested, take your curlers out while in the back of the cop car.

Tell me this isn't real...

...but I know it is. It's some obscure video called the "Super Broker Shuffle."

???????

I'm sure some people think it is laugh-out-loud funny, but I just find it kind of, well, strange.

So many Presidents, so little time.

For the first time since 1981, all of the living Presidents of the United States (and President-elect Barack Obama) met for lunch at the White House today.  To be a fly on the wall...  I wonder what they talked about?  More importantly, I wonder what they ate.

Only a few short weeks before Obama is sworn in as the next President!  What an exciting time.

I never thought I'd see the day...

...when there was a calendar of hot priests.  Yes, priests.  You know, the guys who stand in the front of beautiful old Catholic churches and wave incense in your face.

Anyhow, here's the scoop.  The guy pictured above is my favorite.

Skiing mishap. Funny.

Over the holidays I was in Northern Michigan where I hung out with my family, drank a lot of beer, and did some skiing.  I'm a big fan of wearing jeans under snow pants (or, as the case may be, without snow pants) because it adds another layer of warmth.  And, when you take your snow pants off to enjoy some food & drink in the lodge, you still look fashionable.

Anyways, some guy out in Vail should have learned one from me, because he got caught in an incredibly awkward situation.  Awkward for him but hilarious for the rest of us.  Check it out here, via D Listed.

Beyonce sings Barbara

The Kennedy Center Honors paid tribute to Barbara Streisand last week, and performances were given by Beyonce, Idina Menzel, Ne-Yo, and many others. Babs is a true diva, but B's performance is so fierce it is not to be missed. Neither are her earrings.

Enjoy!

Still hot

Even though his hairline is receding, it's still undeniable that Jude Law is super hot.  Right?  Jude and his family were in Rio for the holidays...  Must be nice.

Tina Turner is 69 years old and still giving it.

Can you believe that she is almost 70??? Insane. What I wouldn't give to see her live... Ugh.

Clip is from a very recent concert. "Proud Mary" is one of those classic songs that everyone loves, right?

Party Time

Lora and I had a party last night to celebrate the New Year.  To put it simply, it was fierce. There were probably around 50 people in attendance, and we had all kinds of fun.  Special guest stars included Annie Lerew, Will & John Forgrave, Dr. A. Barron Breland, Joe Perkins, and Matt Fisher.

Anyhow, here are the reasons for our success:

1. Good people.  (duh, we have fierce friends)
2. Good music.  (Joe was in charge of that, so, again, duh)
3. Good drinks. (beer, jungle juice, champagne, and all kinds of liquor)

That's really all you need for a party.

I am a beer drinker, but the jungle juice we served was pretty fierce.  Here's the recipe:

3 handles of cheap citron vodka
1 package kool-aid, red
6 apples, cut up
4 bananas, cut up
6 oranges, cut up
1 pineapple, cut up
1/2 c. cranberry juice
2 c. sour mix
2 2-liters diet Cherry 7-Up
2 2-liters 7-Up
1 liter orange juice

Mix all ingredients in a large cooler (clean) with a bag of ice.  Place on cold porch and serve with a soup ladle.

Anyhow, yeah, if you were at the party, you know how much fun it was.  If you weren't, well, you should probably consider coming to our next one.  Lora and I don't mess around.
