Do you want pot with that?

A McDonald's employee in Maryland was recently arrested after undercover cops bought pot from him at the drive-thru window. How amazing is that?  There had been reports that the man had been selling drugs at work for quite some time, so police finally went in for the kill.

I don't know about you, but I'm lovin' it.

Perhaps you're one of the McDonald's Dealer's recent clients and you've gotten home only to realize that, since Michael Phelps isn't actually your friend, you don't have a bong.  Never fear, for there's a pictorial list of ideas for homemade smoking devices.  Example below.

I have no idea what to title this...

...because there are so many possibilities!

1. How many times can you say "potatoes" in six minutes?
2. Depression Era Reipes
3. Vote CLARA for Top Chef.
4. Potatoes, Onions, and Hot Dogs, oh my!
5. Is this serious or a joke?

In any case, please PLEASE watch this clip (and maybe check out some others).  It's priceless.

Oscars Wrap-Up

Did you watch the Oscars tonight?  I did.  It was actually a really great show, starting off with Hugh Jackman as host.  Fierce, right?  Anyhow, there were a few surprises: Penelope Cruz winning Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Best Actor recipient Sean Penn for his portrayal of Harvey Milk.  Slumdog Millionaire for Best Picture, obviously.

For a complete list of the winners and nominees, click here.

The highlights of the evening are below.

Beyonce, Hugh Jackman, Zack Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper pay tribute to the great movie musical numnbers.  My favorite part is when Beyonce is singing "I Don't Know How To Love Him" over "You Can't Stop The Beat."  Genius.

For each of the Best Actor/Actress awards, they had five previous winners announce the nominees.  I loved it.  Here's Kate Winslet winning Best Actress.  Amazing.

Finally, there's the best speech of the night.  Dustin Lance Black won for Best Original Screenplay for his beautiful work called Milk.  What an incredible speech!  And what a super cute guy...

Mmmm.. A Big Mac...

Virtual

Reality

Actually, I've never had a Big Mac, and I honestly don't think I ever will.

However, I found a great website today that takes a look at the differences between glossy fast food ads and the realities of the food they serve.

No, it's not going to make me stop going to Subway before work, picking up some Arby's on a drive to The Lake, or having Wendy's dine-in on a hungover Sunday in Bloomington.

Crush of the Day: Thomas Jane

Actor Thomas Jane, married to Patricia Arquette, has been getting a lot of publicity lately.  I wonder why?

Oh, it's because he's incredibly hot.

Jane's most notable lead role was in The Punisher, but I  haven't seen it.  I have seen him, however, in both Magnolia and Boogie Nights.  I knew I recognized him!

He's also recently been signed on to a new HBO show called Hung, in which he plays a man who is, well, very well endowed.  I have a feeling the gays are gonna like that show...

What do you do on Sundays?

I love Sundays, especially when I don't have to work.  It's the only day of the week that I don't feel guilty about staying in bed till 3:00, though I'm not saying that that doesn't happen on other days...

Anyways, my Sundays are spent catching up on laundry, TV shows, cleaning, blogs, etc.  Nothing too exciting, really.

Maybe I should take a page from this guy's book and practice a new hobby...

Crush of the Day: Glenn Howerton

Glenn Howerton is one of the stars/producers/writers of the TV show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  I have never actually watched the show on TV, but thanks to Hulu.com, I've seen quite a few episodes.  I'll go ahead and give props to Kim for teaching me about both Hulu and this wonderful show.

Anyhow, Glenn plays one of the four lead characters on the satirical show, and he's absolutely adorable.  I love his hair. He's also been featured on ER and some other shows I've never heard of.

Homecoming Drag Queen

Students at George Mason University recently elected their homecoming queen--and it's a guy!

Reann Ballslee, a drag queen slash student, was honored by her peers with the crown.

Two questions:

1. Why is there a homecoming in February?
2. Who was elected homecoming king?

Work it out, girl, you're fierce.

New Feature: Crush of the Day: Scott Mechlowicz

I'm adding a new feature. It's called Crush of the Day. Pretty self-explanatory, right? Now, I'm almost sure that this isn't going to happen every single day, but I'll try my hardest.

Thursday's Crush of the Day broke through to me in little-known but critically-acclaimed Mean Creek, the story of a group of teenagers getting revenge on a local bully. He's also done some work on TV and was in the movie Eurotrip. His name is Scott Mechlowicz, and I'd be surprised if many people have heard of him... Truth be told, he's probably not the best looking actor I've ever seen, but there's something about him (boyish charm, maybe) that's pretty irresistible.

They have prostitutes in Vegas?

The Las Vegas Review Journal has published a list of known prostitutes who have been arrested in recent years in the area... Complete with pictures, no less.  The ladies' are facing tough crackdowns in Vegas; since the story was released, 13 have been arrested.

It's an interesting commentary on the time I think; I mean, it seems pretty sadistic in a sense to bring insult to their injury, but then again, I suppose it's public record anyways.  I don't know exactly how I feel about it.

Indulge Me

So my fantasy starts out like this...  I'm stranded in an airport with hours to go before departure, I sit down to think about life and realize that I’m next to a group of six beefy British guys.  I do some research on these characters: not only do they all have great physiques, but they’ve got a trophy. And one is throwing around a miniature ball. And their shirts say “World Rugby Shop” on the backs...  Anyhow, being stuck in the airport, they decide (as do I) to get completely pissed at the bar.

I’ll leave the rest up to your (and my) imagination.

Oh, wait, for the most part, this fantasy is a reality.   Ha.  I’m sitting in LAX where I arrived ridiculously early for my red-eye flight back to Chicago and find myself sitting next to some rugby blokes.  You can imagine how happy (and distracted) I am at this point.  It’s fierce.

All of the guys look like this or hotter.  Ha.  (Link NSFW-ish, courtesy Dieux du Stade [also probably NSWF]).

See you on the other side...

P.S.  Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any better for me, a soccer team walks into the other side of the terminal.  This is gay heaven at LAX.

Monday, February 16, 2009

This will be me...

...at LAX tonight if I miss my flight home.

Actually, I wouldn't really be that mad.  I love airports and always secretly hope that I'll get stuck in one or have to be re-routed all over the country to get home.

Out & About in LA

Last night I met up with a former co-worker, Reagan, to hit up West Hollywood (WeHo, as they call it here).  We had a lot of fun and caused some trouble, but nothing that will land me on the pages of Perez Hilton or anything like that (for better or worse, ha).

Anyhow, we spent most of the evening at The Abbey, which is, in my opinion, the Sidetrack of LA. It's a huge, really beautiful bar filled with a mix of all kinds of people.  Drink prices are a little steep, but I mean, that's to be expected.  Anyhow, yeah, it was nice; it's always so different checking out the "scene" in a different city. People here definitely have a little more attitude than they do in Chicago, and it sometimes comes across as being rude or unfriendly.

And, I must say, I think there are better looking guys in Chicago.  :)

Kids take on Pulp Fiction.

The 2009 Oxford Film Festival did a remake of a few classic movies, including a scene or two from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.  To make it a little more interesting (and entertaining), they used a couple of child actors.

Pretty funny.

Support Marriage Equality

Please take a moment to check out this video and visit this site to learn more about a very important cause...  Not only does this video share valuable information, it is also just beautiful.

"Fidelity": Don't Divorce... from Courage Campaign on Vimeo.

JHud is back and better than EVER!

Since her comeback performance at the Superbowl (which was actually after the Patti Labelle concert), Jennifer Hudson has been tearing it up!  I'm such a big fan, and I have been from day one.

This first clip is her performance at the Grammy awards last week...  It's her new single titled, "You Pulled Me Through," and it's absolutely stunning.

Next, Jennifer was invited to sing for Muhammed Ali at the 40th Annual NAACP Awards.

There's really no other word to describe her.  She's fierce.

I'm not sure about the headband...

...but the rest is pretty nice.
Zac Effron was snapped taking a hike in the LA area recently...  Where was I?

(I'm in LA for the week visiting friends and family...)

Taste the (vodka) rainbow.

Apparently this is a "trend" sweeping the nation, but so far it hasn't turned up in either Chicago or Los Angeles.  Maybe it's more of a southern thing...

Anyhow, have you ever wanted to make your own infused vodkas?  Here is a great recipe for Skittles-infused vodka.  I don't know about you, but I think I'll stick with fresh fruits for my martinis...

Truly a babydaddy...

This story out of the UK is alarming, especially when you see the photos.

A 13 year old boy and his 15 year old girlfriend recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl.  Crazy, right?  13 and 15.  Wow.  They both still live at home and are supported by their parents (obviously), and the new challenge of having their own child has not really hit them yet.

Crazy.

Need to relax?

If you're looking for something calming to the senses (at least the visual one), check out this site. It's some contemporary art that I really like.

Thanks to Kim for the tip.

This explains a lot.

Sometimes people wonder why there is an epidemic of obesity and unhealthy lifestyles in America...  This blog has found the answer.  It's a collection of photos of insanely calorie-ridden foods found in real life.

Think you can stomach a bacon donut?

The National Anthem. Hold your breath.

In case you can't tell, I'm obsessed with FailBlog lately.  Here's a gem.

The Singing Hoosiers are FIERCE!

Once again, I'm a proud to be an alum of the Singing Hoosiers.  I've noticed on Facebook for the past few days that some Hoosier friends' statuses have been referring to a commercial...  Well, I finally found it!

I never saw this ad during the holiday season, but it's super cute.

Anyways, it's the Singing Hoosiers singing "We Need A Little Christmas" for a Walmart holiday ad; the recording is from a concert with the Cincinnati Pops circa a few years before I was in the group.

Failure makes the heart grow fonder.

Do you read Failblog?  You should.  It's funny as all get out.

Here's some good material.

I have seen this sign thousands of times.  It's just north of Indianapolis.  Oh, Indiana...

Isn't this the safest way to transport your kids?

This is why you wear the wrist strap EVERY TIME.  Strap on for safety!

Falling gets me every time.  I can't help it.

Finally, I feel like this kind of thing has to happen in Northern Michigan.  Just sayin'.

I don't know how I missed this...

...it should have been front page news on CNN or something.

Thursday was Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday.  Don't know who he is?  Well, you're missing out.
He's a soccer player and he's really hot.

No, I've never seen him play soccer.  And I don't know if I care to because I kind of think soccer is boring.  But I have seen pictures of him, and if you haven't, you should check these out.

Facebook Warnings...

Facebook is celebrating its fifth birthday, but they're also dealing with some major drama. Hackers have infiltrated the site, and lately they've been extorting thousands of dollars from people just like you and me.

In one recent case, someone's status was changed to "NEED[S} HELP IMMEDIATELY," and, after a friend was talking to a hacker, he wired over $1000 to the impostor.  Crazy.  That's a lot of money.

Basically, be careful.  And don't wire you friends $1000.

Looking for a gift for me?

My birthday is coming up in like six months, so it's time to start shopping.
If you need some inspiration, check this out.  It's an alarm clock that wakes you with the smell of actual bacon.  Genius.

I want to be so rich...

...that I have my own assistant to hold an umbrella for me.  That would make the commute to work so much easier.  Come to think of it, I probably wouldn't work much, would I?  Still, it would be nice to be Hugh Jackman for many reasons, the least of which is his umbrella man.

Hahahahaha!

This is one of the funniest videos I have seen in a long time...  Some kid took a trip to the dentist for some oral surgery and his father (a comedic genius) decided to film him as he came down from his laughing gas...  It's hilarious.

Maybe they'll give me some of the good stuff when I get my braces off in a month...

Bandera Holiday Party!

Last night was the 2nd Annual Bandera Holiday Party, at least in its current state.  During the actual holiday season, none of us servers can find a time to get together, so we wait 'till February

Eight of us had dinner together at what I think is one of the best restaurants in Chicago, and by far the best for a large group, Cafe Iberico.  Totally relaxed atmosphere, good service, great drinks, and delicious tapas, all at a very reasonable price.  Mmm.  The
best thing about tapas is getting to taste so many dishes; I had shrimp, goat cheese with tomato sauce, beef, paella, chicken croquettes, potato salad, roasted potatoes, "ham & cheese" bruschetta, grilled sausage, etc.  The second best part is the price: after drinking and eating for an hour or so, we each threw in $20-$25 for everything.

After dinner, we headed to SpyBar for a $30 all-you-can-drink cover.  It was worth it.  It's a cool bar and the DJ was spinning some HITS, so everyone spent a lot of time on the dance floor.

This has gotten out of hand...

Remember a month or so ago when it was all the rage to post tribute videos of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" on YouTube?  Well, Tyra cashed in on the idea and invited some of the stars of these videos to do an all-star tribute LIVE on her show.

Pretty funny.  My favorite is still the little girl.

Super Bowl XLIII

First of all, did I get those Roman numerals correct?  I think so...

Two football teams played an important game tonight called "The Superbowl."  It was the closing act for a truly amazing performance by the one and only Jennifer Hudson, aka the best singer in the world.

Michael Phelps actually looks hot in this pic...

...too bad he got in trouble for it.
Michael Phelps, whom I have never thought was attractive (except for his body), was recently snapped partying a little hard.  It's pretty funny how big of a deal this picture is, I mean, it's just a (post-) college guy taking a fierce bong hit, right?  Who hasn't done that?

Rafa wins!

In a much anticipated match up between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final, Rafa pulled through five long sets of incredible tennis to beat his rival.  Federer was hoping to win his 14th Grand Slam title, tying the great Pete Sampras, but Rafa had other plans...  It was a great match.

Speaking of Rafael Nadal, I can't help but think about how hot he is!  Most notable is his left arm...  It's fierce. And he's only 22.

Congrats, Minister Sigurdardottir!

The world of politics is constantly changing, and it's for the better.  Many thought we'd never see the day when there was a black man as President of the United States, but it happened.

Here's another empowering story:  Iceland recently swore in it's first ever female Prime Minister, Johanna Sigurdardottir, who just happens to be the first ever openly gay head of state.  Yeah, ever.  That's pretty awesome.

I can think of a few that are missing...

Someone recently put together a list of the 37 hottest guys in theater.  It's pretty good.

Gavin Creel is still my favorite.  :)
